Oily areas on the forehead, nose, and chin, as well as and dry areas on the cheeks, are characteristic of mixed skin, and can develop acne in some people. In general, the seborrheic areas of mixed skin will normalise with age, as sebum production slows down. The epidermis in the central areas of the face is thicker, while the horny layer, as well as the epidermis sublayers, are thinner and more dehydrated.
Similarly to oily skin, mixed skin requires skincare with functional active exfoliating ingredients, like glycolic acid, which helps eliminate impurities and dead epidermal cells, mostly in the central part of the face. Normal or mixed skin needs hydration and nourishment, provided by hyaluronic acid.
